■ポイント■　今回の課題文のように、if節に用いられた「ever」は「いずれ」「いつか」といった意味になります。

例：　If ever you're in Tokyo, come and see me.　→　いつか東京に来ることがあったら、お立ち寄りください。

［課題文の訳］　アセルニーは得意のレトリックを用いて、飛ぶ力を身につけ、親鳥の巣を去ろうとしている鳥の話をした。そして、彼は目に涙を浮かべ、いつか戻りたいと思うことがあれば、巣は同じ場所にあるだろうと、子どもたちに言った。
